Cancún was the first megaproject ever tackled by the Mexican Goverment and literally sprang from nowhere. Twentyfive years ago it was just another desert island baking in the Caribbean sun, and its only visitors a handful of local fishermen.

Nowdays around two milliion tourists a year discover is tropical charms. Cancún is blessed with year-round sun, travel writers and publicisist can be forgiven for calling it paradise on earth.

There are coral reefs in The Bay of Mujeres, offshore snorkeling (Punta Nizuc, Punta Cancún) and easy boat rides to the other sites of interest. And if the resort architecture initially claims the visitor's attention, it's the Caribbean that keep him coming back.
